ATCC-29213 Quality Control Strain

Investigation of genotypic and phenotypic characteristics

ATCC-29213 Quality Control Strain

Investigation of the genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of the quality control strain ATCC-29213 in ten European laboratories

This project analyses quality control strains and the associated integrity of scientific results. Specifically, the aim is to evaluate quality control strains used throughout Europe for genetic adaptations and phenotypic changes. These strains, such as Staphylococcus aureus 29213, are often used over long periods of time. This can lead to genotypic changes and, in the long term, to deviating laboratory results that are no longer comparable. In her project, project leader Alina Nussbaumer-Pröll therefore wants to analyse quality control strains that are used in 10 different laboratories in Europe.

‘Reliability and reproducibility are the cornerstones of microbiological research and are therefore crucial for progress in the field of clinical microbiology.’
