Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness in the western world. Currently, treatment is limited to lowering the intraocular pressure. However, numerous studies have shown that the disease is associated not only with increased intraocular pressure but also with reduced blood flow to the eye.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is used in many countries due to its intraocular pressure-lowering effect. New studies suggest that THC also has a positive effect on blood flow to the eye. However, this has not yet been systematically investigated in patients with glaucoma. The aim of this project is therefore to measure the influence of low-dose THC on blood flow in the eye in patients with glaucoma and to compare it with placebo.
