Haematology and Immunology

Working Groups

Our focus is on testing newly developed drugs in the field of immunology and blood coagulation. We combine in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experiments to gain an integrated insight into pathophysiological processes.

Our main focus

  1. First-in-human studies, including basket studies with chemokines, cytokines, antibodies, aptamers and biosimilarity studies with biological substances.
  2. Drug studies in the human LPS infusion or pulmonary instillation model to measure the pharmacodynamics of novel drugs under standardised inflammatory conditions.
  3. Phase I-III patient studies to monitor immunomodulation and coagulation in various diseases, including stroke.
  4. Focus on vasculature, platelets and coagulation: platelet hyperfunction in myocardial infarction, thrombotic microangiopathies, critically ill patients, extracorporeal circuits (haemodialysis, cardiopulmonary bypass, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, left ventricular assist devices).
  5. Development of recombinant human diamine oxidase against mast cell activation disorders and anaphylaxis.
